Sagreras’ First Lessons
The lessons from the first book of Julio Salvador Sagreras’ method, from open strings to the first studies, with sheet music and tab to download.
Las lecciones de guitarra is the six-book method that the Argentine guitarist Julio Salvador Sagreras (1879–1942) began publishing in 1922. The first book, Las primeras lecciones de guitarra (First Lessons for Guitar), collects 86 short lessons that take the student from open strings to the notes of the first staff, chords, arpeggios, scales and the first studies in keys other than C major. Each lesson keeps the number it has in the book. They are added here as they are reviewed.
The notes and rhythms come from the transcription by Marieh (2020), published on IMSLP under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 license. Each lesson is checked against the printed tablature of that edition, and the PDF is generated again, with the tablature computed by the engine behind the site’s “Sheet Music with Tab” tool: they are not the PDFs of the original edition.
The tablature fingering is a suggestion: most notes can be played in more than one place on the fretboard, and it may differ from Marieh’s. Finger markings and the book’s texts are not included.
